DROSTDY HOTEL IN GRAAFF-REINET TO CLOSE FOR RENOVATIONS

The stately Drostdy Hotel, nestled in the heart of the historic town of Graaff-Reinet in the Great Karoo, will be closing down to undergo extensive renovations.

Since 1806, when the Drostdy was established as the local magistrate’s court, it has been subject to a great deal of change and restoration, as a private home and, from 1977, as the Drostdy Hotel.

Over the years it has become widely recognised as one of the top heritage hotels in South Africa, enchanting countless travellers with its unique old world charm, and serving as a gateway to the rich history and magic of Graaff-Reinet and the Great Karoo.

The Drostdy Hotel has closed and will be re-opening towards the end of 2013.

For alternative accomodation options in the interim period, please contact the Graaff-Reinet Tourism Office on 049 892 4248. Further information concerning the Drostdy can be obtained by addressing an e-mail to drostdy@sactgr.co.za
