Financial Controller

1. Job Information

Position: Financial Controller
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Drostdy Hotel, Graaff Reinet (including support to the South African College of Tourism)

The Financial Controller manages the financial operations of the Drostdy Hotel and SACT, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial governance. The role provides financial insights to support strategic and operational decision making and leads the finance team.

Key Duties (Most Important):

  • Oversee financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and month end / year end processes.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and ensure compliance with tax and audit requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring departmental financial performance.
  • Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, supplier payments, and credit control.
  • Oversee procurement controls, stock processes, and cost of sales analysis.
  • Review payroll accuracy and ensure compliance with statutory payroll legislation.
  • Lead and support the finance team to ensure accuracy, compliance, and professional standards.
  • Reports to: Finance Manager / CFO

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • SAICA/SAIPA/CIMA registration or progress advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years accounting/financial management experience.
  • Hospitality or multi entity experience beneficial.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical ability, accuracy, and financial governance.
  • Proficient in financial systems (Nivision, Micros, Opera) and advanced Excel.
  • Good understanding of South African tax, payroll, and financial regulations.

Working Hours: Full time

Weekends/Public Holidays: Occasionally required during financial cycles

Spa Therapist

Position: Spa Therapist

The Spa Therapist delivers professional, personalised wellness and beauty treatments that reflect Drostdy Hotel’s luxury service standards. The role ensures guest comfort, safety, and relaxation while supporting the smooth daily operation of the spa.

Key Duties (Most Important):

  • Deliver a wide range of professional beauty and massage treatments in line with spa protocols.
  • Conduct guest consultations and identify contraindications before treatments.
  • Maintain cleanliness, preparation, and readiness of treatment rooms.
  • Provide warm, personalised, guest-focused service that ensures comfort and safety throughout the experience.
  • Coordinate with the front desk regarding appointment schedules and guest flow.
  • Maintain accurate consultation forms and support basic spa administration.
  • Promote spa services and retail products when appropriate.

Reports to: Spa Manager / Front Office Manager

Qualifications:

Accredited diploma/certification in Beauty or Spa Therapy (CIDESCO, BABTEC, ITEC, City & Guilds).

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a luxury spa environment preferred.
    Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of spa protocols, skincare, and massage techniques.
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy for scheduling and product updates.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Physically fit to perform treatments for extended periods.
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • High standard of grooming, hygiene, and professional presentation.

Senior Sous Chef

Position: Senior Sous Chef
Department: Kitchen
Employment Type: Full Time

The Senior Sous Chef supports the Head Chef in delivering the culinary direction and operational performance of the kitchen. This role ensures consistent food quality, adherence to hygiene standards, and the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen operation while assisting with leadership of the kitchen brigade.

Key Duties (Most Important):

  • Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and menu execution.
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to approved recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Supervise food preparation during service to ensure consistency, timing, and quality.
  • Train, guide, and support junior chefs, interns, and kitchen staff.
  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and cost control procedures.
  • Support the development of new dishes and seasonal menus.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are maintained in safe working condition.

 

Reports to: Head Chef

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualification
    Food Safety / HACCP certification preferred

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a professional kitchen
  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel or restaurant preferred

 

Skills:

  • Strong culinary and food preparation skills
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a kitchen team
  • Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen

Housekeeping Supervisor

Position: Housekeeping Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor supports the Executive Housekeeper in ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. This role supervises the housekeeping team, ensures service standards are followed, and contributes to excellent guest satisfaction.

Key Duties (Most Important):

  • Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are met.
  • Allocate daily duties to housekeeping staff and monitor completion.
  • Support the housekeeping team in maintaining luxury service standards.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist with housekeeping administration, reports, and stock control.
  • Ensure guest requests and special requirements are attended to promptly.
  • Coach and guide Room Attendants to maintain consistent standards.
  • Monitor housekeeping supplies and report shortages.


Reports to: Executive Housekeeper

Qualifications:

Certificate or diploma in Housekeeping, Hospitality, or related field preferred


Experience:

Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in housekeeping supervisor position

Previous supervisory experience preferred

Experience in a hotel environment advantageous


Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage a small team
  • Good organisational skills
